Cold Conflict Devlog 1


We are Arthur Lopes and Nikita Ziharev and we are developing a first-person shooter based on Doom and Deus Ex. You must kill the Premier of the USSA. 

Initially we had planned on making a farming simulator game where you start from the bottom and then improve your techniques and machinery as time progresses. We later decided to scrap it as we found it hard to implement over a short period of time. 

We plan on implementing movement-based combat as well as in depth melee system with dynamic destruction to obliterate any being that opposes you.  

Nikita's Prototype 

 I developed a small prototype for the movement system that I would like to implement into the final rendition of our game tools 2 game. It follows basic WASD controls with the ability to move the camera with the mouse. As well as that the player can also slide using the ctrl key in game. I wanted these controls to answer the question of what kind of movement controls will be featured in the game if it’s movement-based? I have also started testing doors in the game and how the player is going to interact with them. <span class="NormalTextRun SCXW68008435 BCX0" <this="" answers="" the="" question="" of="" “what="" can="" player="" currently="" interact="" with?”="" <="" span="">Above I have attached a video to how the movement works in my prototype as well as the downloadable and playable prototype. </span> 

Arthur's Prototype 

 For the melee combat, I wanted to see if it was possible to split meshes during run time. The uploaded video shows a process which uses a plane to divide a mesh into two halves and creating a new object with one half of the mesh and removing it from the original. I wanted to know if it was possible to create a script that could edit a mesh during run time, and it is. Later on I will use this to make a melee attack that will let the player destroy objects dynamically.
